Can We Avoid Crib Death?
I personally feel we can avoid crib death. Also known as sudden infant death syndrome, (SIDS). Baby bedding can often contain compounds of the elements arsenic, phosphorus and antimony. In many cases they are added as part of the manufacturing process such as fire retardant (FR) purposes.
Britain’s crib death rate was steadily on the Upswing from the time these chemicals were first introduced into crib mattresses in the early 1950’s.

The British government required a FR (fire retardant) to be added to crib mattresses by 1988. Now, much like our new mattress law, the manufacturers were given a 4 year warning, thus they started down the path of compliance with their new standard. As I understand it, Britain’s highest crib death rate was during 1986-1988 until manufacturers started to remove the chemical.
1994 research showed high levels of antimony in the tissue of crib death babies. From the research I have found, fungi and bacteria can cause toxic gas from the above mentioned chemicals.
"Causes of SIDS?"
I am Thoroughly convinced by research results that finding Sudden Infant Death Syndrome victims on the mattress is Unnecessary and can be caused by these gases shutting down the central nervous system, resulting in stoppage of heart and breathing function, thereby causing crib death.
